PetMAC is definitely one of the good guys, and are not your average pet store. Partnered with Homeward Trails PetMAC offers all-natural pet food and an opportunity to support animal rescue and adoption with every purchase. They are committed to being part of the solution not the problem. Serving as a pet adoption and animal education resource center and donating a percentage of every item purchased at PetMAC to Homeward Trails’ rescue efforts. PetMAC also gives a discount to people who have fostered or adopted pets to show their appreciation. While PetMAC is primarily a retail boutique specializing in high-quality, all-natural pet food, treats, baked goods, and pet supplies they still actively promote the rescue and adoption of homeless animals.
Cindy Williams makes a point to ensure that she and her staff are always up to date with all the latest information on pet care. For years experts have been going back and forth about which food is better for your dog or cat- the old moist or dry food debate. So I asked Owner Cindy Williams what her stance was on the moist verse dry food debate. Dry food is the least healthy food bearing little resemblance to a dog or cats real diet due to being over processed the food. For years people have been saying that dry food cleans teeth but according to Cindy that is just a myth, in fact dry food can actually cause dental problems because the food gets stuck in the pet’s teeth. Moist food is the way to go, it promotes healthy kidney functioning, dental health, and because it’s less processed it is more like the dog or cats natural diet. Cindy Williams echoes Ballston Animal Hospital’s Dr. Collins’s warning that pet obesity is the biggest health problem found in pets today. According to Cindy one way to reduce the risk of your pet becoming obese is start feeding them grain free food. Dogs especially don’t need grain in their food because like people the extra carbs are eventually just converted to fat.
Cindy and her staff make it their business to know as much as they can about the pet business.
